The art or pairing scents and flavours

Taste and smell are intimately entwined. They’re both strongly connected to our memory and have the power to trigger a vast array of emotions and feelings, from nostalgia to desire, excitement or relaxation. This amazing connection is brilliantly described by Marcel Proust in his masterpiece, “In search of lost time”, in which he relates getting transported back in time and vividly reliving some childhood memories when tasting a madeleine cake dipped in lime tea.

When scents and flavours are paired beautifully, they can create fantastic sensory experiences. HOUSE OF LILAH has captured this through scented candle and herbal tea combinations. I’ve shared with The Simple Things Magazine some examples of home scents and tea pairings that will help you enjoy beautiful, uplifting and soothing moments.
